Why am I required to take art or theater appreciation as a math major?
For the teacher ed. program, they won’t even allow me to take like English Literature or something, I am required to take either art appreciation or theater appreciation, and I certainly fail to see how this is productive for me as a future math teacher. They at least should let me have more choice, like poetry or creative writing if I am required to take a nonsense course.
Does anyone see the point in making a math major take one of those courses? The history and writing and psychology electives are bad enough, but understandable, but this part is ridiculous to me.
So that you have a well rounded education and realize there is more to life than just math.
I had to take math courses for my political science major and I didn’t see any point in that at the time, but years later I’ve been able to use those skills and you’ll be able to use what you learn in art or theater appreciation.
