Does anybody know if Writers Literary Agency is legit or if they are a scam like poetry.com?
They claim to handle new and unpublished writers and force them to have their work critiqued by another part of their agency, which the author must continue to pay for until the manuscript is deemed ready to publish. They have had 14 complaints filed about them with the BBB of New York and they (BBB) indicate they have an unsatisfactory record with them. Anybody have any knowledge about these people?
Definitely a scam.
They’ve done business under a great many names, and they make their money form authors paying for services (critique, editing, etc.) rather than from a percentage of the selling price of the book to publishers, as real agents do.
They have never sold a book, IIRC. Not one.
They’re consistently on the lists of the worst agents a writer can have–worse than having no agent by far.
