Poetry Goes Hollywood

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked." Now, this is the way to start a poem.

Howl Allen Ginsberg was one of the mid-twentieth century is famous, controversial and difficult poems. Some have said that forever changed American culture, paving the way from the 1950s to the early stiff Wild 1960. Others said he was not even poetry all, it was nothing more than an incoherent rant and often obscene. (It took a judge, ultimately, to disagree, believing that the poem had "redeeming social importance" and should not be censored.)

The semi-autobiographical work sounds a bit like what you imagine would result if TS Eliot's Prufrock (from title = "" Love "> Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock) had succeeded to overcome crippling shyness by the heavy use of recreational drugs. Howl is the first cry of an edgy man who sees the world is wrong shine of madness, to punish severely individuals just to be themselves. It is a poem that is often difficult and unpleasant, always difficult and challenging.

And it seems an odd choice for a Hollywood motion-picture, it is difficult to imagine Ginseberg cry from the heart to bring on the big screen. Nevertheless, Howl: The Movie is coming soon to a theater near you, starring James Franco idol Ginsberg and featuring leading actors Alan Alda, Mary-Louise Parker and Paul Rudd. It will be interesting to see if they are able to remove it while keeping the original intact Ginsberg's rebellious spirit.
