poetry publishers online
Publishing poetry…who, where, when…help!!!?

Ok…. I have a few questions, really.

1. When do you think would be a good point to get a poetry collection published? I’m a teenager writer, and this will be my 1st time trying to get anything published. I have roughly 100 poems written and edited.

2. Where would I get it published? Does any ol’ book publishing company publish poetry? Are there any that are more popular than others? I know some book publishers are more popular than others. Can you recommend any?

3. How would I get it published? Would I go to a publisher’s webiste and contact them via email? Or would I do something else? I don’t think many publishers would be in a phonebook…

I feel really stupid not knowing any of this…. I’m a relatively popular poet online and I’d like to make my debut. I’ve sent one in to a newspaper and received positive feedback, as well as sent a few to magazines. So I think my debut should be coming around sooner or later. Thanks for your time! :]

Take a look at the book “Poet’s Market.” Your local library might have a copy. That book is full of information about publishing opportunities for poets.

You should continue submitting your poems to magazines. You’ll need to build up a reputation by publishing quite a few poems in print and online journals before a book publisher will be interested in a collection of your work.
